BioPharm (BPE) Fittings

BioPharm (BPE) tube fittings are designed and manufactured for the biopharmaceutical industry, in conventional tube OD sizes, with extended tangents to accommodate orbital weld heads, and fine ID electropolish. BPE fittings are available with Butt Weld or Tri-Clamp ends, or with both. To understand the difference between Sanitary and BioPharm fittings, it’s helpful to know about the certifying organizations and standards. 3-A.org is the standard-setting organization in the food and beverage industries. The 3-A logo will usually appear on a fitting that’s approved for sanitary use. 3-A standards require a 32RA (150 grit) or better. BPE is an international standard approved by the American National Standards Institute as an aid for the design and construction of equipment intended for use in the manufacturing of biopharmaceuticals. Both 3-A and BPE fittings are sanitary grade. However, while 3-A fittings are polished to 32Ra or better, BPE fittings will have finer finishes, the most common being SF1 (PL) and SF4 (PM). As such, BPE fittings are better suited for biopharmaceutical use where impurities cannot be tolerated in the line.
  • SF1 – 20Ra Max ID Electropolish / 32Ra Max OD
  • SF4 – 15Ra Max ID Electropolish / 32Ra Max OD
For BPE fittings with one or more clamp ends, gaskets and Heavy-Duty or High-Pressure clamps complete the union. Before tightening the clamp, gaskets should be properly seated. Improper alignment is one of the leading causes of contamination and leaks. Clamps should always be tight and secure, but not overtight. An overtight clamp can lead to bulging of the gasket, which may cause it to push into the process line, creating spaces for bacteria to develop. Frequently Asked Questions

Duva Sanitary specializes in the design and manufacture of BioPharm (BPE) fittings that meet the stringent standards required for biopharmaceutical applications. Our fittings are crafted to comply with international standards, including those set by the American National Standards Institute. We offer products featuring fine ID electropolish finishes such as SF1 (20Ra Max ID) and SF4 (15Ra Max ID), ensuring that our fittings support the high purity demands of biopharmaceutical processes. Our expertise in creating components with precise dimensions and superior finishes makes us a trusted provider in the industry.

The manufacturing procedure for BioPharm BPE fittings involves adhering to strict quality standards and compliance protocols to meet BPE specifications. Each fitting is designed with conventional tube OD sizes and extended tangents to facilitate orbital weld heads. The fittings undergo a fine ID electropolish to achieve specific surface finishes such as SF1 (20Ra Max ID) or SF4 (15Ra Max ID). Additionally, BPE fittings are produced with either Butt Weld or Tri-Clamp ends, or a combination of both, ensuring they meet the detailed requirements for use in biopharmaceutical applications. These procedures are aligned with the international standards approved by the American National Standards Institute, ensuring the highest quality and compliance for sanitary use in the biopharmaceutical industry.

To receive a detailed cost estimate and professional consultation for selecting the appropriate BioPharm BPE fittings, you can contact our expert team directly through our website. Our specialists will provide guidance on the best fittings for your specific needs, considering factors such as fitting types, surface finishes, and compliance standards. We aim to ensure you receive the most suitable and cost-effective solutions tailored to your biopharmaceutical processes.

Duva’s Biopharm BPE fittings are designed to meet the highest standards required for biopharmaceutical manufacturing. With finishes like SF1 (20Ra Max ID Electropolish) and SF4 (15Ra Max ID Electropolish), these fittings minimize the risk of impurities in the line, ensuring superior cleanliness and compliance with international BPE standards. Customers can expect these fittings to provide reliable performance and meet stringent quality requirements, making them ideal for environments where contamination cannot be tolerated.
